Winter...

This little 'story' is from the box of a candle I picked up from Ink & Peat last week. I chose the candle as much for it's wonderful scent, as for the story. And walking through the trees this morning, on my way to get Apple from her paddock, reminded me of it, as all was still and quiet in that 'strangely comforting' wintery way...

What:nots...

What:nots on a Sunday night - not quite a first but close... I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, and if you celebrated Thanksgiving that you had fun. The boys' and I launched into Christmas today, decorating the tree and festooning the place with paper snowflakes. Actually  'twas the boys who very enthusiastically festooned with snowflakes, attaching them to anything and everything. It's just as well we no longer have a cat! I must say I do like the wintery lead up to Christmas - rushing about all rugged up, roaring fires, sparkling lights and so on. It certainly makes one feel more Christmas-sy. Anyhoo enough rabbling on - here's what:nots from last week.
Liking the pink eyeliner and somewhat cross look via Definitely Golden.

I can't recall the source of this Joan Miro, but I love the simple symmetry of it.

Rain streaked windows captured by Brian Ferry.

One of many lovely items over at Haus Interiors.

The limited edition zine, At Your Leisure is a 'visual train of thought + a little bit of candy to make your eyes happy'. Hop over here to have a peek, and pick up a copy.

And wouldn't this Therese Rawsthorne dress be perfect for Christmas cocktails?

Iris Velghe...

Brrrr...

My oh my it is cold. Snow arrived Monday night - much to Turtle's excitement - and then it got really cold. And it's been below zero ever since! I bravely rugged up yesterday and went riding - madness really. Staying in with a large mug of tea would have been far more sensible. And let's be honest it's time like this earmuffs really come into their own.

Weekend doings...

Our weekend swung by in the most relaxed way. The Vogel 50x50 collection was great, as was the rest of the Museum. We dined en famille at Lincoln on Saturday, and discovered the niftiest little vintage shop Lodekka - in a double decker bus no less. The boys and I received a dusting of snow en route to school this morning, but alas that's all it was. Today was full of middle school visits, helping the boys' class cook for their international Thanksgiving feast, and general reordering of the house post-weekend - roll on Tuesday! I hope your week is off to a good start.

What:nots...

'tis once again the weekend, and with a little bit of luck and a whole lotta hoping we might get snow tomorrow. Fingers and toes crossed. We're off to the Portland Art Museum this afternoon to see the Vogel Collection. What are your plans.....I hope you have fun whatever they are.
Spellbinding sepia of Natalie Portman.

And loving American Vintage's track pants, and sheer singlets.

A pretty little box from mahna mahna.

Ellie Goulding...

There's something about Ellie Goulding's cover of My Song that appeals to me greatly. I hope you 've all had a fab week. Thank you ever so much for visiting and for your sweet comments - I love reading them. Be back tomorrow with what:nots...

Verana...

After some pretty horrendous Portland weather yesterday reality has set in - I am definitely no longer in Mexico! But my oh my oh my talk about a surprise weekend! We flew into Puerto Vallarta, drove an hour south along a winding coast road, and stopped at the wee fishing village of Boca de Tomatlan. There we were met by a boat and zoomed along a jungle clad coastline. The sun was setting, pelicans were about, and the colours were incredible. A wee while later we arrived a jetty, and were taken up a narrow winding stone path through the jungle to Verana. Tucked away on a hill, surrounded by lush forest with sweeping views of the sea Verana has to be the definition of utter bliss. With only eight (very private) bungalows, and only accessible by boat, it is totally remote and secluded. R and I had the most incredible time - we lay in the sun, gazed at the view, wandered through the jungle to Yelapa (a tiny fishing village only accessible by boat), gazed at the view some more, had massages, and ate the yummiest food!! I feel very spoilt indeed...
Images from Verana, the top and bottom pics are of our bungalow - it was sooooo beautiful!

My oh my oh my...

...I'm still pinching myself. This is a wee pic of where I spent my weekend. Complete, and utter bliss indeed! I'll post more details once I've caught up on myself. I hope your week is going well and thank you for all you sweet comments.

What:nots...

I hope you had a fab week. For once I'm ahead of myself - I'm off ridiculously bright and early tomorrow on a wee adventure. Where to exactly I have no idea - R has organised a surprise get-away! So here's what:nots for the week...
Loving this image found via Lace & Tea.
Have you heard of Fifi Lapin? She would have to be the most stylish rabbit there is.
Gregory Thielker's extraordinarily realistic paintings (found via the Diversion Project).
Simple + pretty hydrangeas found here.

This post reminded me of Richard Bird in the Bush - a favourite childhood book.
A sweet wee purse from Peppermint Designs.

And how to have fun in puddles found via Casa e Cose. The slow-mo parts are really beautiful.

Have a fab weekend!
