Discombobulation...

Having arrived this morning in Amsterdam, I confess I am feeling somewhat befuddled by the stark contrast in my surroundings. Less than 24 hours ago I was surrounded by lush tropical gardens, the sounds of crickets, frogs, and chanting from the temple at the end of the road. The air was thick and heavy with humidity, and the sound and smell of the sea drifted into our room. We took our meals on the small verandah outside our room, and spent the evenings reading by candlelight. Our days were luxuriously slow. And now I find myself in a quirky 1920s Dutch hotel, it's cold and grey outside, and everything seems so....ordered. And so different.

  2. Quite a transition. I am sure, in time, you will find the beauty in it.

  4. The contrast of the colours alone would make me feel out of sorts, the way you feel when you come home from an amazing holiday. Amsterdam is lovely though, you will enjoy it, hope to go back there some day with my family. By the way, Jack is doing well with his new therapy have had some major breakthroughs already.
