What:nots...

Here we are on a soggy Sunday, mid November. It was practically dark at half past four today. The past week has been mixed. On the good (well, to be honest, great) news front I am the proud owner of a horse!! His name is Irish, and he is a very handsome chestnut thoroughbred. On the not so good news front I'm laid up in bed with a severely pulled back muscle. Ouch. Annoying, and somewhat ironic as I won't be riding for a wee while. Hopefully things are well in your neck of the woods. I'm looking forward to a quiet evening in with R's chicken and mushroom pie, followed by rhubarb and apple crumble with lots of whipped cream. Yum.

I too, wonder Mr Carroll.

One of my all time favourite images.

What:nots...

And just like that the weekend has ended, and along with it the summer holidays. School starts tomorrow, R has left for Tokyo, and come Wednesday the boys head off on a 10 day school camp. So hopefully, with the house completely empty, I might get back to some kind of regular blogging...but I do have a wee trip to New York planned this weekend, so things might be sporadic for a while yet. In the meantime here's a very, very tardy what:nots.
I like the blurry softness of this image.

What:nots...

Phew! It's been quite a week - there's been ever so much catching up with old friends, and visiting family, that we are now quite ready for a wee holiday. It has been really lovely though, and tomorrow after a farewell lunch, we're off to the Bay with my parents for a week of relaxation. Yippee! How's your week been? I hope it's treated you well, and that life is good in your neck of the woods. Here's what:nots - see you in a week...
I know it's been doing the rounds, but I love this pic of Sofia Coppola.

This is so utterly true.

Loving Liselotte Watkins' illustrations for Vogue Italia.

Alan Preston's beautiful kowhai seed, muka, and gold necklaces.

So much to like about this image of Princess Anne.

Elegant hair and makeup at Peter Som - Fall 2012.

Beatriz Furest's new collection - love this bag + colour
(the blue vodka version is pretty nice too).

My Favorite Dirt Roads by Robert Kinmont (found via Alexandria).

And a recent addition to my reading list - Richard Davenport-Hines exploration of the passengers and crew onboard the Titanic.

Ugh...

...after a really great holiday which included a pretty scary drive in a snowstorm, sub-zero temperatures, and a brilliant four days in New York I've promptly come down with an absolutely dreadful cold. Ugh! I shall be spending the next few days tucked up in bed, and hope to be back late Sunday with what:nots. I hope your New Year is off to a stellar start!

Weekly what:nots...

Better late than never I say. I hope you had a swinging weekend, and that the week ahead is filled with all kinds of goodness. With R away, ongoing house guests, school things, an increasing list of after-school activities, and the usual end-of-the-year madness things are kinda busy around here. Here's hoping for quieter days ahead.
