What:nots...

Happy Monday! I hope your weekend was a success. With R away for the next three weeks (!?!) the boys and I laid low, and mooched about the place. My week's off to a good start having spent the morning riding, with a reasonable degree of success, the most difficult horse at the stables. Whether I will be able to walk, let alone ride again tomorrow remains to be seen. And now considering what we have on in the week ahead, I think I'll be pleased when Friday rolls around. Have a great week - here's what:nots.
So much to love about this image.

This is a Snake Wardrobe - but really it could serve many a purpose...decoration, pot stand...

Beautiful, and simple pieces by Studio Nicholson.

Hand & Eye Studio's terracotta pendants.

Con Ghiacco - more goodness from Martin O'Neill.

Pantone's colour of the year - Tangerine Tango. Hard to know what I like more, the name or the colour...

Caramelised almonds blended with dark chocolate - scrumptious chocolate from Masion Bouche.

Happy Friday...

Hope you've had a good week, and an even better weekend is ahead.
ps: if only I could look this groomed while riding...

Back soon...

My apologies for my absence. Life is very busy at present. Between the house, the boys, the search for a middle school, riding 3 to 4 times a week, helping with props and costumes for the school play, organising our epic summer trip (more on that in a week or so), and all the usual day to day bits and bobs I'm struggling to find time to post. So I'm taking a break and hope to be back this weekend all going according to plan. Have a lovely week - see you soon!

Hmmm...

So...today has gone from bad to worse...yet another middle school encounter where we're told one of the following "we have no space; we think you should try another school; we feel they won't fit in" and so it goes...off to riding and a chance to forget for a while. Unfortunately, 'twas not to be...my riding has gone from bad to appalling...returned home very close to tears. Not sure if it's the school thing or the riding...or perhaps both. Deep breath...maybe we should throw it in and travel for a year (R's suggestion). Isn't that running away? I don't know. Silly really. Tomorrow's a new day...

Winter...

This little 'story' is from the box of a candle I picked up from Ink & Peat last week. I chose the candle as much for it's wonderful scent, as for the story. And walking through the trees this morning, on my way to get Apple from her paddock, reminded me of it, as all was still and quiet in that 'strangely comforting' wintery way...

Back a bit later...

Whoops we seem to have missed Thursday! I hope you're having a grand Friday - I've spent the morning riding, and am just racing out with the rowdies to catch the sun. Back later this evening with what:nots!

Tuesday already...

How'd that happen?! How was your weekend? Ours was loads of fun. This week is feeling a tad frantic, why exactly I'm not sure. R arrives home this evening - yippee. The boys have the class recital of The Sound of Music tomorrow, and then it's full speed towards Friday and spring break. I hope you're having a lovely week so far. Just rushing off to go riding, but promise I'll be back later with a few tid-bits.

Photo by me (what I plan to do with hundreds of dried hydrangea flowers I am not sure).

What a day... or not

Still feeling rather ick. Had a very slow start and was helping Turtle & Mu reload Garage Band when my laptop died. And I mean died died - as in the hard drive died! Disaster! A trip to see the super friendly and helpful people at Magnum Mac (who are ever so patient when I use terms like 'the little square face thingy'). My poor iBook I'd had her for years - I mean years - and sadly she is no more..... Much to Turtle and Mu's utter amazement we came home with a sparkling new MacBook Pro. The look of sheer delight on Mu's face was priceless. And thanks to Mr Time Machine everything copied over super easily - hooray!

On an entirely different note I was thinking of my Mum today (probably 'cos I'm ill), and the time she came to see me and much to her horror I was in hospital. Once she knew I was OK, and the colour had returned to her face, Mum bounced back and made a classic Mum comment "I know they're hospital pj's Annabel, but that green really suits you you". It always makes me smile. Speaking of stunning green things - I came across these beautiful beads at Madder & Rouge this week. They are made from acai seeds by this uber eco company called Escapulario.

Sadly no riding today - too ill.

Hooray it's Friday!

What a busy week! The decision has been made - we're relocating half way around the world to Portland, Oregon in August! How exciting - there's so much to do and sort out. R will be away for most of the coming months - so Turtle, Mu & me will be packing and planning alone. I hope we find somewhere lovely to live - I will miss our sea views. Hopefully we find somewhere with lots of character and a lovely vibe. So very exciting! Here's some lovely desks and inspiration boards from Martha Stewart Living.

And as it's Friday - that means riding - yippee!

It's raining....

A very wet grey winter day today. Less than a week ago we were experiencing Portland's pretty spring. Days like today it's nice to have pretty things to help cheer the gloom up - like these Kate Spade bangles.....
Turtle and I made cupcakes after school yesterday - yum! (photo by Turtle)

At this time of year I always feel like cocooning - and have decided to try and bake at least once a week. Although I'm off for coffee with S this morning to talk about some work - so may not have yards of spare time soon. Off horse riding this afternoon - hooray. I've not been for over a month!
