Weekly what:nots...

Hello Friday evening! How was your week? Ours skedaddled by with school, activities, riding (loving), and what.have.you. We're off out to our fav local for dinner this evening, then plan to explore southwest Oregon and visit a few wineries, enjoy walking in the spring (hopefully) weather, and so forth. What are your plans? Oooh and thank you for all your lovely comments this week - they always make me smile :) Right-o let's get onto what:nots...
Lovely taupe and beige at Jak & Jil (via Definitely Golden).
A great quote from Albert Einstein (via Beverly.13).
Pretty cashmere and ballet flats from who else but J Crew!
Picture-perfect English country garden found here. For more English country inspiration have a peep at this.
Have you seen this blog? Seriously, Joel has to be the ideal Dad - the things he makes are incredible!
Cute tee on a always stunning Natalie Portman.
A clever use for old skateboards.
And an adorable ted conked out after a hard day (or night!) from Twig Hutchinson. How cool is Twig for a name!

Have a lovely weekend!

Country....

My hope is that, even as we move forward, we remember the simple things the countryside has to offer and treasure them, for ourselves and for future generations.
- Jasper Conran.

From Cornwall to Cumbria spring through to winter, Jasper Conran traversed the English countryside. The end result? A beautiful, evocative 300-page book that shows the pleasure of country life. Hop over here to find out more and to watch the video. Thanks to Chelsea for the links.

Inspiring inspiration boards...

Here's a few lovely and inspiring inspiration boards to help along your Wednesday. Having a wee space or what.have.you where you can pin up all the little lovelies you find is so....well...inspiring don't you think? I love the hallway version above.

Heart & Home...

To celebrate their 10th year Inside Out asked some the talented people they have featured over the years to create an artwork that "celebrates Heart & Home". There are 38 pieces and all are up for auction here. Here's a wee peek at a few....

Hop on over here and have a look - they are all really lovely. Bids can be placed online, and proceeds go towards HeartKids charity.

Phew!

We finally seem to be back in the swing of things after a hugely fun whirlwind trip. Well...OK to be honest there were one or two 'moments' with the boys, but that's to be expected with sleep deprived children (and adults). We had a huge apartment just below Tribeca (my new favourite neighbourhood) and managed a happy hybrid of activities. The boys were delighted as we visited the 5th avenue (madness), soho (slightly better), and W14th (best) Apple Stores during our stay. We rode the subway and on a calm and foggy morning visited "Lady Liberty". MoMA, the MET, and the Museum of Natural History were taken in, and in sublimely warm spring weather we strolled both Central Park and The High Line. We shopped Soho in a surprisingly restrained manner, discovering a few treasures along the way. New eating places were uncovered, and I fell in love with New York all over again. A few faves from our jaunt include...

There were lots more lovely, fab and fun things - I can't wait to go back.

Firstly I must apologise - I had intended to post from NYC but a very slow and unreliable internet connection made that nigh on impossible. Talk about a 'bad blogger'! Anyhoo we are back (only just) and we had an amazing time. But for now it's early nights all 'round - I will post more tomorrow. Promise. Hope you're all well.

A soggy Monday...

My oh my! Portland has bit hit by a deluge. Surely the clouds have run out of rain by now? Anyhoo how was your weekend? Ours was...well to be honest it was a little scratchy. Turtle, Mu and me were all feeling a little bit this side of cantankery. Dear R was really rather patient. Thank goodness we seem to have shaken off our scratchiness just in time for this week's super-duper exciting expedition to NYC. Whoohoo!!

Operation nice...

What a great idea! Melissa Morris started Operation Nice back in 2008 after an elevator 'encounter'. According to Melissa what we all need is "a little nice". I couldn't agree more! Hop on over to Operation Nice to read more.

The Harvest...

This is sublimely gorgeous & beautifully shot.

Weekly what:nots...

Happy friday! How was your week? With the boys off for spring break ours was very laid back which was really nice. We pottered about, made sour candies (yuerk!), explored, read books (I loved The Help), did puzzles, and generally did not very much at all. I'm now starting to think I need to get organised for next week and our trip to NYC. Yikes! Here's this week's colourful-ish what:nots... the image above is an old Kate Spade ad that I included 'cos I love it so much.

Pretty pinks and red lips from Tuleh.

Crocheted garlands from Wood & Wool Stool.

Preppy little ballet flats from Maloles.

A perfect white tee by American Vintage. The sunglasses are great too!

A great use for portable clay pots.

Love these retro cowboys and indians from Saison.
I hope you have a fab weekend!

ps: Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution premieres tonight on ABC.

Take back the tap...

Can I move in...

I've been in love with Emerson Made for what seems like for ever. And if their wonderful flowers weren't gorgeous enough - one look at Emerson and Ryan from Emerson Made's house is enough to make you want to move right on in!
