What:nots...

We seem to have tumbled out the other end of our NYC trip, the boys' graduation, and a somewhat manic end to the school year. R is once again in NZ, so the boys and I have been planning what to do with three months of summer holidays. Thankfully we have all opted for a low key approach, and plan to just take our time, and do whatever, whenever the mood strikes us - a kind of perfect summer really. And I plan to get a bit more back on track with this rather neglected blog! So as a start - here's a long overdue what:nots. Have a wonderful week.
The always elegant Keira Knightley.

Stephen King from his memoir On Writing.

A dusty pink slip from Loup Charmant.

Camellia's - past their best yet still beautiful.

Masanori Oji's brass bottle opener.

Game Plan a beautiful book on the work of Alighiero Boetti.

Hope's perfectly slouchy Judge Trouser.

And with scents of milk, oatmeal, vanilla, and vetiver, Barr-Co's products are some of (if not the) loveliest bath products I've come across. Subtle, yet lingering, and wonderfully creamy - what's not to love.

What:nots...

Crikey - Monday already?! How'd that happen... I hope you had a jolly weekend. Ours passed by in a tranquil blur of quietness. R, the boys and I watched Senna - really quite a moving documentary. We woke to snow flurries this morning  - all very pretty, but I'm beginning to think spring is somewhat overdue... Anyhoo here's to a good week ahead!
Elegant and feminine found via Aubrey Road

Great pic of the really quite lovely Princess Anne at Royal Ascot 1969.

Whilst they're not quite awakening me, the birdsong is increasing - despite the snow.

Have you heard of, or been to, Petersham Nurseries? It looks incredible...
Hop over here to have a peep.

Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti's elegant and very pretty dresses for spring 2012.

Grown - an organic alchemist of Australian-made skin care.

Utterly beautiful antique shawls found here.

So much to covet with Madewell's Passenger Clutch.

Perfect and timeless one-piece from J Crew.

Precipitation...

Weather forecasts that refer to precipitation may be technically correct, but really, I think rain (as in it's raining cats and dogs) is less ambiguous, and more suited to Portland forecasts.

Weekly what:nots...

Oooh only one week left...the excitement is mounting around these parts with daily checks under the tree. I have to say I've done quite the stellar job of stealth present purchasing, decoy wrapping, and whopping great fibs to keep everyone guessing. How are preparations proceeding in your part of the woods? For all my efficiency on the present front, I'm woefully behind on the Christmas card front. So much so they're destined to become New Year cards (yet again). I hope your weekend has been utterly pleasant and that the coming week is full of goodness. Thanks for stopping by - here's what:nots.
Love the simple beauty of this image.

Asteroids by Victoria Haven.

Olo's Erastus fragrance - tobacco, silver needle + oak moss.

A stunning book of photographs by Jeffrey Conley.

Love the sunglasses, the dress, and especially the moccasins.

Listening to Birdy - such a haunting voice.

Weekly what:nots...

How has your week been? Thanks for hanging in there in my absence! I'm still striving to achieve the sense of calm in this image. And with our things from New Zealand arriving next week I think it may be a while. The new place is great though - it has a really lovely feel to it, and given that it is four times the size of our last place we have oodles of space. Mind you trying to round up two dreamy eleven-year-olds on school mornings has proved a challenge, but I figure all the running up and down flights of stairs is good for one's fitness. Anyhoo I hope all is well in your neck of the woods and the past week has been kind to you.
Love this image of Phoebe Philo from The Trend Report.

Sky Flower, 2003 by Nobuyoshi Araki - a wall montage of a 1000 polaroids.

Looking forward to reading the latest issue of The Gentlewoman.

Utterly lovely colours in Cave by Michelle Armas. Discovered via Joslyn of Simple Lovely.

Scosha & Co's tan bracelet.

A perfectly mis-matched set of frames, not to mention that plant pot.

Fauno from local chocolatier Cocanú - yum!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Weekly what:nots...

Hello Friday! How was your week? I hope it went well, and you have a fun weekend planned. Our week flew by full of the usual, and with Saturday just around the corner I'm looking forward to a bit of weekendy-down-time, and catching up on a whole lot of letters and emails. In the meantime, here's what:nots...
The extraordinarily beautiful Katherine Hepburn.
New York artist Peter Pryor's colourful artwork.
Graham & Spencer's Fall 2010 collection, which includes this perfect top.
Terrain's almost too-sweet-to-use tea towel.

Fab white capri's from Jazmin Chebar (found via aubrey road).
Hope's highly covetable bottle-green leather tote.
Pretty autumn colours captured by Irene Suchocki.
The lovely Hear Black Market's water-colour feather heart cards.
The Meadow, Portland. What could be better than a store that sells local flowers, artisan chocolate, and gourmet salt?
And Things We Forget's poignant Post-it notes left to their fate in public

I hope you have a grand weekend!

ps: thank you Blogger - I am loving your new add multiple-images thingy!
